Barratt Phillips, M.D., F.A.C.S.Barratt Phillips, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Barratt L. Phillips is a board certified ophthalmologist who has been practicing since 1995 and joined Inland Eye Specialists in 1999. Dr. Phillips completed his medical degree at The University of Utah and his Ophthalmology training at Loma Linda University. Dr. Phillips is a member of the American Association of Ophthalmology, California Association of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has given many presentations nationally and internationally, and has had scientific papers published in such prestigious journals as Ophthalmic Surgery and Lasers, Ophthalmology, and the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Phillips has been performing a variety of microsurgical and refractive laser procedures since 1995.

Robert Sorenson, M.D., Ph.D.Robert Sorenson, M.D., Ph.D.
Robert C. Sorenson, M.D., Ph.D is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He received his medical degree and Ph.D. From the University of Michigan where he graduated Cum Laude. He completed his ophthalmology residency training at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Sorenson was a Fellow of the Medical Scientist Training Program, while at the University of Michigan. Dr. Sorenson is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, California Medical Association, California Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Tri-County Eye Society. Dr. Sorenson performs cataract surgery with the "no stitch, no shot" technique. He is a VISX-certified LASIK surgeon. Dr. Sorenson also provides treatment for diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other diseases of the eye.

J. Grant Tew, M.D., F.A.C.S.J. Grant Tew, M.D., F.A.C.S.
J. Grant Tew, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been practicing since 2000 and joined Inland Eye Specialists in 2004. Dr. Tew his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency at the University of Denver. He completed a fellowship at the University of Southern California where he specialized in diagnosing and treating corneal diseases as well as learning the latest refractive surgery techniques. Dr. Tew is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Medical Association. Dr. Tew specializes in "Quick Vision" cataract surgery which avoids injections, stitches and eye patches. Dr. Tew is a certified LASIK surgeon and also provides treatment for diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other diseases of the eye.

Lisa Garbutt, M.D.Lisa Garbutt, M.D.
Dr. Lisa Garbutt is a board certified ophthalmologist who joined Inland Eye Specialists in August 2008. She treats medical and surgical diseases of the eye and specializes in cornea, cataract and LASIK refractive surgery. Dr. Garbett completed her medical degree Cum Laude at Boston University School of Medicine and completed her Ophthalmology training at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Garbutt is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

R. Duncan Johnson, M.D.R. Duncan Johnson, M.D.
Dr. R. Duncan Johnson is a board certified ophthalmologist who joined Inland Eye Specialists in July 2012. He treats medical and surgical diseases of the eye, specializing in cornea, cataract and LASIK refractive surgery. Dr. Johnson offers his patients the most advanced techniques in LASIK surgery including the latest generation CustomVue laser with an "all-laser" Intralase capability. He is also trained in DSAEK, a breakthrough technique for treating corneal diseases. Dr. Johnson completed his medical degree at The Ohio State University: College of Medicine and received his Ophthalmology training at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Peter Spiegel, M.D.Peter Spiegel, M.D.
Dr. Peter Spiegel joined our staff in December 2000. His specialties are pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus disorders, and neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Spiegel graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed a residency in ophthalmology at Tulane University. He furthered his training, completing a specialty fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Iowa and another year of fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Prior to joining Inland Eye Specialists, Dr. Spiegel was Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, and a University of Southern California faculty member with an appointment at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.

Jeffrey Joseph, M.D.Jeffrey Joseph, M.D.
Dr. Jeffrey Joseph, MD, is a member of limited group of board certified ophthalmologists with additional subspecialty training in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, also referred to as Oculoplastic Surgery. Dr. Joseph focuses on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids.

John Carlson, M.D.John Carlson, M.D.
Dr. John P. Carlson is a board certified ophthalmologist who has been practicing since 1999 and joined Inland Eye Specialists in 2007. He treats medical and surgical diseases of the eye and specializes in vitreoretinal diseases. Dr. Carlson completed his medical degree at Creighton University, graduating cum laude in 1995. His ophthalmology and fellowship were completed at Loma Linda University. Dr. Carlson is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, California Medical Association, the American Society of Retina Specialist, and the Tri-County Eye Society, where he has served as both President and Vice President.

Shil Kiritkumar Patel M.D.Shil Kiritkumar Patel M.D.
Dr. Patel was involved with novel research involving the intravitreal safety of caspofungin and posaconazole in an animal model during his residency. He won the Milton Boniuk Research Grant in 2008. He has presented at the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO) Annual Meeting twice, the latest topic being Nepafenac and Cystoid Macular Edema.

Douglas Clements, M.D., F.A.C.S.Douglas Clements, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Douglas H. Clements, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been practicing for over 33 years at his practice: Fallbrook Eye Surgery. As of July 1, 2008, Fallbrook Eye Surgery became part of Inland Eye Specialists and Dr. Clements happily joined our team of specialists. He continues to treat medical and surgical diseases of the eye. Dr. Clements completed his medical degree and Ophthalmology training at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. Dr. Clements is a member of the California Medical Association and is affiliated with the Fallbrook Hospital as active staff and former chief of staff. He is also affiliated with the Sharp Murrieta Hospital. Dr. Clements has been a member of the Fallbrook Rotary Club for over 30 years, provides complimentary eye exams to preschoolers, and gives free lectures on eye health to various civic organizations.

Steven Cury, O.D.Steven Cury, O.D.
Dr. Steven A. Cury is a Therapeutic Optometrist. He received his doctor of optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry in Texas and his BA in Biology from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He is an active member of the California and American Optometric Association with over twenty years of experience in the eyecare field. Dr. Cury specializes in comprehensive eye examinations, individualized contact lens fittings, eyeglass prescriptions, and the selection of frames and lenses.

David McCleary, O.D., F.A.A.O.David McCleary, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. David S. McCleary is a Therapeutic Optometrist who specializes in low vision. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and received his optometric degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. McCleary is a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association. Dr. McCleary provides comprehensive eye examinations, low vision evaluations, individualized contact lenses and fittings, and eyeglass prescriptions.

John McDiarmid, O.D.John McDiarmid, O.D.
Dr. John J. McDiarmid is a Therapeutic Optometrist. He is a graduate of Stanford University and received his optometric degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. He has received national awards for patient satisfaction. Dr. McDiarmid specializes in comprehensive eye examinations, individualized contact lenses and fittings, and eyeglass prescriptions. Dr. McDiarmid provides LASIK evaluations and pre and post-surgery management. He manages all types of eye health problems and emergencies.

Brooke Coleman, O.D.Brooke Coleman, O.D.
Dr. Coleman is a graduate of the University of Denver and received her optometric degree Magna Cum Laude from the Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Coleman has completed internships for the Naval Medical Center, San Diego; Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, Oceanside; Sharp-Rees Stealy Medical Group, San Diego; SCCO Eye Center, Fullerton; Boys & Girls Club, Garden Grove and the TLC Laser Vision, Irvine. She has also been awarded certification in Paragon Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) fitting. Dr. Coleman specializes in comprehensive eye examinations, toric contact lens fittings and eyeglass prescriptions. Dr. Coleman provides LASIK evaluations and pre and post-surgery management while working directly with our MDs on staff.

Brett Larson, O.D., F.A.A.O.Brett Larson, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Larson is a graduate of Brigham Young University and received his optometric degree Cum Laude from the Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Larson completed a residency specializing in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the Southern California College of Optometry where he received training in designing and fitting contact lenses for patients with irregular corneas including keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, and corneal transplant patients. Dr. Larson has received extensive training in the fitting of ocular prosthetics (prosthetic eyes) and cosmetic contact lenses. Dr. Larson also specializes in pediatric contact lenses for children of all ages.

Jonathan Geller, O.D.Jonathan Geller, O.D.
Dr. Johnathan Geller is a Therapeutic Optometrist. He received his Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and his Bachelor of Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. Geller was the founder of Golden Triangle Optometrics and has practiced in Murrieta since 1991. He joined our practice in 2011 when his practice became a part of Inland Eye Specialists. Dr. Geller specializes in comprehensive eye examinations, providing therapeutic eye care for children and adults. He particularly enjoys working with Laser Vision Correction patients with whom he has worked extensively since the F.D.A. approved LASIK. He also served as Director of Clinical Research at CooperVision, a specialty contact lens manufacturer.
